St Catherine’s Students Top in Northern Ireland Again!

“What a lovely way to start the second half of the term!” exclaimed Mrs Noeleen Tiffney, Principal of Saint Catherine’s College, when she announced that six students had scooped Top in Northern Ireland in this summer’s CCEA Examinations!

At GCSE, three students from Sruth na Gaeilge, Coláiste Chaitríona came 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in Gaeilge, Madison Emerson, from Royal School Armagh, achieved 1st place in Journalism (which was taught in St Catherine’s), Catherine Muldoon gained 1st place in Health & Social Care while Cara Mackle was awarded 2nd place in Child Development.

Well done to all the girls and to their teachers on these magnificent achievements!

St Catherine’s also got great recognition when Amy McGleenan won the local heat of the Soroptimist International Public Speaking Competition, beating off stiff competition from nineteen schools across the country. Amy now qualifies for the N.I. Final in Hillsborough in February.

We ended the term on another high note when our Senior Camogie Team secured a win over St Killian’s, Garron Tower, to collect their first Fr. Davies Cup title. The Ulster Champions are now set for a journey into the All-Ireland Senior Championship in the New year. Hopefully the girls can go one step further then their last All-Ireland campaign in 2016!
